Two children have been rescued from the wreck of an old boat in the River Medina this evening (Sunday).
Cowes RNLI were requested to launch by Solent Coastguard shortly before 19:50 after receiving reports of persons stranded on the River Medina with the tide rising.
Heading to the scene near to The Folly Inn, Whippingham, the volunteer crewed lifeboat rescued the youngsters before taking them to ashore at The Folly Inn pub.
Coastguard Rescue team members from Newport Coastguard were also tasked to the incident.
UPDATE @ 09:45 – The two boys, both aged 16, had placed planks across the mud to reach the historic wreck on the west bank, however the tide rapidly cut them off.
