UPDATED: Emergency services are this morning attending a road traffic collision in Shanklin involving an Island Roads waste van and a young boy.
Island Echo understand that the Ford Transit collided with a 10-year-old child on a bend at Hope Road, near to Shanklin Seafront at 09:40.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is attending the incident and has landed in a nearby car park, however the boy’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The road has been closed by Police at the junction with Arthur’s Hill and motorists are being diverted away from the scene.
UPDATE @ 10:50 – The HIOWAA has transferred the young patient to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport in the last couple of minutes.
UPDATE @ 11:15 – Hope Road, Shanklin has now reopened to traffic.
