Charges against a woman accused of setting fire to a garage in Ventnor in February have been terminated as no evidence was offered by the prosecution.
Lindsey Collins, 39, appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Thursday (29th July) where Recorder, Malcolm Gibney, recorded not-guilty verdicts on both charges stemming from an incident in Spring Gardens, which saw fire appliances from Shanklin, Sandown, and Ryde attend.
An investigation was launched into suspected arson, with officers treating the incident as arson with intent to endanger life – an extremely serious offence which carries a maximum term of life imprisonment.
Collins had been injured in the incident and was treated for smoke inhalation at the time – with the fire quickly contained by firefighters into a small area.
