4 fire appliances were mobilised to reports of a kitchen fire in Colwell in the West Wight this afternoon (Friday), with 1 person injured in the incident. Retained firefighters from Freshwater were alerted to a fire at a property on Colwell Road shortly before 14:00. It has been confirmed by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service that the oven fire was out on arrival. 3 further crews from Cowes, Newport and Shanklin were all stood down whilst en route to the West Wight as a result. Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have tended to 1 casualty, who was provided with initial emergency care by firefighters.
