The main road between Lake and Shanklin has been closed in both directions this morning (Monday) to facilitate emergency carriageway repairs.
Island Roads have been deployed to rectify a deteriorating section of road on Sandown Road between Alresford Road to just outside Winchester House car park.
The closure is in force for all traffic with the official diversion established as Cemetery Road, Green Lane, Landguard Manor Road, Carter Road, Regent Street, Atherley Road and through to Wilton Park Road.
Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed.
UPDATE – The road has now re-opened.

Isn’t that a stretch that island roads completely resurfaced not long ago?
There are a lot of places where their work has failed early, sagging and cracking up where no repairs to the sub layers were made, while it was uncovered during the works.
this will be the third time… but ive just walked past and theres no sign of any road closure or repairs taking place
Maybe island roads realised that this is a stupid time to close a main route in the holiday period.
Also, nobody seems to have announced the change. This shows a lack of consideration to the public.
Have given up reporting areas of resurfaced road that have failed. Don’t think they can be bothered
