Isle of Wight Council member Caroline Gladwin is no longer a Reform UK councillor, the party has revealed.
In an extraordinary turn of events, a Reform UK spokesperson told the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) that Cllr Gladwin has had the whip removed after an internal investigation.
She now sits as an independent councillor.
Reform UK’s announcement came on the same day that 7 of Cllr Gladwin’s rental properties were made public following a decision by County Hall’s monitoring officer. An 8th entry was listed as a ‘Sensitive Interest’ – exemption by permission of the monitoring officer.
This followed her reluctance to publicly reveal her interests until she was instructed by monitoring officer Christopher Potter to do so by 31st January. Mr Potter had stated in an email to councillors that he did not regard rental properties in which Cllr Gladwin had a ‘beneficial interest’ as sensitive.
His decision came after a memorandum signed by 18 councillors was sent to interim monitoring officer Francis Fernandes, protesting the failure of Reform UK councillor Caroline Gladwin to declare her rental properties with her published declaration of interests.
Cllr Gladwin, who serves on the adult social care, public health and housing needs committee, claims there has been a hate campaign against her and said the matter will now be referred to “all the relevant authorities, including the police”. She also stated she is “considering taking legal action”.

Honesty is the best policy, such a shame many politicians
are dishonest, and many of them are still in their positions.
Good luck as an Independent, I would never vote Reform and
many others wouldn’t from what I read on National News
they are becoming the Tory reject party.
They have more ex Tories and Reformers in their party.
Lol
Hooray!
Now all we have to do is get that woman off the council.
Then she’ll have time to fix her tenant’s properties.
And as for a ‘hate’ campaign…I thought they all believed in freedom of speech, freedom of expression? Unless it applies to them it seems.
It’s not like anyone has called her a fat, greedy, dishonest, devious bitch, is it?
Just sack her she’s not been truthful and in her job she should have been? It’s disgusting anyone else would have been in trouble, so she still keeps a job!
Enough is enough, fancy that a party that stands for the history & culture of our great nation? No I wouldn’t expect you would vote for them, when did you join us after your journey on a little black inflatable from Calais? Honesty is always the best policy, agreed. That includes lawfully entering countries & crossing borders.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Another Reform grifter caught grifting.
What a surprise.
Funny how the people screaming FREE SPEECH when they open their mouths are always the first to scream LITIGATION when someone says anything slightly honest about them.
Just be careful Darren. These types have a habit of suing the Media for $1,000,000,000 in the Florida Courts.
On the plus side. 3 Reformers elected on the Isle of Wight.
One quit when he realised he needed to attend Council meetings
One was thrown out following investigations into Property ownership
The third…. the Third i’ve not seen in Lake since the afternoon of the election. No column in the Parish news magazine, nothing on the parish noticeboard, and he doesn’t sit on the Parish Council (He could have been CoOpted on)
Anyone with half a brain will avoid them come May’s Elections
