The Benedictine community of Quarr Abbey hosted a special carol service before Christmas, which welcomed the Voices of the Isle of Wight choir to the monastery.
The choir of 40 was conducted by Linda Filby-Borrett and accompanied on the organ by James Longford. Nancy Borrett and 2 of her pupils played the violin.
2 monks of Quarr took the readings and Abbot Xavier concluded with a prayer for Ukraine.
The Congregation filled the church and joined with gusto in singing ‘Once in the Royal’ and ‘While Shepherds’.
The retiring collection on Sunday 18th December was for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to which Quarr Abbey and The Voices of the Isle of Wight were happy to donate £400.
