UPDATED: CAR UPSIDE DOWN ON DRIVEWAY AFTER SMASHING INTO HOUSE IN YARMOUTH

A car has smashed into a house and come to rest upside down on its roof on a driveway in Yarmouth this morning (Saturday). The incident on the A3054 Bouldnor Road – near the junction with Thorley Road – occurred at just before 08:00. A black Peugeot 207 Sport appears to have caused damage to pillars at the entrance of the property ‘Windy Ridge’, as well as destroying part of a hedge and a number of garden ornaments. Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to the scene but it’s currently unclear if any injuries have been sustained. Police are liaising with the shocked homeowners over the recovery of the damaged vehicle. The main Yarmouth to Newport road remains open in both directions. UPDATE @ 12:18 – Police have confirmed that the incident occurred at 07:47 this morning. It’s said that 4 people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Although paramedics were called to the scene, no one needed hospital treatment. The car has now been recovered.
