A car has rolled onto its roof resulting in the closure of Smallbrook Lane in both directions this evening (Friday).
The incident has occurred close to the humpback bridge between Ashey Road and Great Preston Road.
Police are in attendance and have closed the road.
UPDATE @ 17:40 – The driver of the Ford has fled the scene, Island Echo is told. Police arrived on scene to find the vehicle abandoned and in a damaged state.
The vehicle has come to rest on its roof after crashing into a small tree.
The road remains closed whilst recovery is arranged.
UPDATE @ 18:20 – Police have confirmed that the suspected driver of the vehicle is currently assisting officers with their enquiries in relation to both the manner of the driving and other road traffic offences.
Island Echo understands that the National Police Air Service helicopter from Bournemouth was called in but was stood down prior to arrival.

That itself is careless driving and could cause an accident. If anyone needs to warn the vehicle behind just flick your lights on and off quickly. Someone on another post said they thought you had a problem because of your over the top comments, you need to moderate them or get some help.

I’ve been saying for days that a lot of people have been driver faster than ever because the roads are emptier. The army needs to come over here to enforce the lock down so that the police to catch these utter idiots.

The driver is assisting police regarding the manner of his driving and other driving offences. He’s obviously a right k–b on the road. Another one car accident but this one is due to wreckless driving and speeding. Thank god he didn’t kill anyone. A right idiot.

Where are the Police, not seen many around , as a key worker I witnessed lots of speeders last couple of days,prick in his 2019 Golf doing around 90 up Lushington Hill,another overtaking those doing 50mph along Blackwater (limit 40)not to mention those that still can’t read signs cutting up drivers coming down left lane to Coppins.
