A car driven by an elderly woman has knocked over a bus stop post and destroyed a bin in the village of Newchurch this afternoon (Monday).
Police were called to the scene near to The Pointer Inn pub after the Volvo, driven by an elderly local, reversed onto the pavement and into the concrete post, partially blocking the road.
Island Echo understands the driver thought she was in first but was in fact in reverse gear in her automatic car.
Bartletts Service Station have recovered the vehicle.
