UPDATED: A car has left the road and come to rest in a hedge on Racecourse near to Whippingham this morning (Monday).
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police are currently on scene close to the Racecourse Roundabout having been called to the scene at 11:43.
One side of the carriageway is blocked by the incident, however thankfully no one is thought to be seriously injured.
Traffic is building in the area and motorists heading in and out of Newport are advised to divert via Staplers.
UPDATE – Island Echo understands the female driver of the Vauxhall Vectra suffered a medical episode at the wheel, leading to the vehicle colliding with a lamp post and coming to rest off the carriageway.
The scene has now been cleared and the vehicle recovered.
