UPDATED: Emergency services have been called to the scene of a road traffic collision in Freshwater this morning that has involved a Southern Vectis coach.
A red VW Polo hatchback has collided with the rear of a Vectis Blue coach, normally used for transporting school children, on the A3055 Afton Road.
Smoke was seen to be coming from the engine bay of the car, prompting the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service to attended the incident at around 10:35.
UPDATE @ 11:34 – The road has now been cleared. One male has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
UPDATE @ 12:28 – A Southern Vectis spokesperson has confirmed to Island Echo that no passengers were on board at the time of the incident and the vehicle was stationary and parked.
