UPDATED: A high-performance sports car has collided with a barrier on the dual carriageway in Newport this afternoon, leading to tailbacks in the area.
One lane of the northbound carriageway of Medina Way has been closed by Police after a white Mitsubishi Evo IX crashed into the left-hand-side crash barrier separating the high-speed section of road from nearby houses.
The front end of the car has been destroyed.
Emergency services including paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are currently on the scene.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area while the incident is cleared.
UPDATE @ 14:50 – Medina Way has now fully reopened, according to Island Roads.
