UPDATED: Ferry operator Red Funnel have cancelled a number of sailings on it’s East Cowes to Southampton car ferry service this morning (Wednesday).
An unknown technical issue has hit the cross-Solent company, meaning the following sailings have been cancelled:
From East Cowes:
09:30, 12:30, 15:30, 18:30* New cancellation
From Southampton:
08:00, 11:00, 14:00, 17:00* New cancellation
It is unknown if any further sailings will be cancelled throughout the day.
UPDATE @ 22:41 – The day’s cancellations are continuing to cause problems for those travelling across the Solent with 2-3 hour delays on Red Funnel’s services.
Hampshire Roads Policing are assisting Southampton City Council with traffic management in a gridlocked city.
UPDATE THURSDAY: Red Funnel are running to a normal timetable today, according to the ferry operator. However, some delays are possible throughout the day as Bestival revellers head to the Isle of Wight.
