A busy road in Carisbrooke, which leads to a number of local schools, has been closed for emergency tree works this morning (Monday).
Island Roads have shut Wellington Road in both directions from its junction with Hinton Road to its junction with Carisbrooke Road.
A dangerous tree is posing a threat to public safety and needs to be felled.
The diversion affects Kinchington Road, Priory Road, Fieldfare Road, High Street, Gunville Road, Purdy Road, Carisbrooke Road and Taylor Road.
It is unknown at this time if the road will re-open prior to the end of the school day.
