Island Roads have this morning (Tuesday) introduced an emergency closure of York Avenue in East Cowes.
The road closure is necessary to enable the removal of a tree by The Local Tree Experts at the junction of John Nash Avenue which is resting on power cables.
It is essential to carry out the work prior to some strong winds we are expecting later in the week.
Adelaide Grove and Victoria Grove will be the diversion route for the duration of the closure.
The closure will be enforced from 10:00 hours on 7th January 2020, for a maximum period of twenty-one days or until the works are complete, whichever is sooner.
It is expected the road will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.
Southern Vectis bus route 4 will be affected.
“Diversions are in place on the Route 4 from10:00 because of a road closure.
“We are advised that York Avenue, East cowes will be closed from 10:00 for emergency treecutting works.
“Buses will divert as per Route 5 between Waitrose & Osborne House bus stops for the duration”
