It has been a busy 24 hours for Yarmouth’s RNLI lifeboat following two shouts in the Solent, at the start of what is set to be a busy Summer.
The first shout came in yesterday evening (Friday) at 19:32 when a 23ft yacht dismasted just off of Lymington. Yarmouth’s All Weather Lifeboat was launched and raced to the aid of the yacht before towing it to safety. No persons were injured.
It wasn’t long until Yarmouth launched once again, this time to two boats run aground.
Just 18 hours after their previous deployment, RNLI crews in the All Weather Lifeboat raced to the scene off Colwell Bay at 13:30 this lunchtime (Saturday). The first yacht had two crew members, while the second was manned with 12.
Crews checked that all persons were safe and comfortable and that there was no immediate danger present.
It is hoped that both vessels will be back afloat by 17:00, however Yarmouth RNLI will be paged should they require any further assistance.
