BURST 4-INCH WATER MAIN FORCES CLOSURE OF MAIN ROAD IN PORCHFIELD

Main Road, Portchfield has been closed this morning (Tuesday) to enable Southern Water to carry out repairs to a burst 4-inch water main.

The main road has been closed between Locks Green Road to its junction with Little Whitehouse Road for a distance of 454 metres.

The burst main is said to be outside a property called Hillside.

The diversion will be via Whitehouse Cross, Whitehouse Road, Colemans Lane, Locks Green Road and Elmsworth Lane in both directions.

The Diversion route will be signed at the time of closure. Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed.

The closure was put in place at 09:10 hours on 19th May 2020 and will remain in place for a maximum period of five days or until the works are completed, whichever is sooner.
