Burnt cooking, which triggered a smoke alarm at a property in the West Wight, led to a call out for firefighters earlier this afternoon (Monday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised crews from Freshwater and Southsea to an address on Ronstan Gardens at around 14:00.
It had been reported to fire control that an alarm was sounding.
On arrival, firefighters found the house to be heavily smoke-logged due to burnt cooking.
Positive pressure ventilation was utilised to clear the smoke.

Southsea ????? no one else available on the IOW?????
Blimey, how long did it take the crew from Southsea to arrive?
Southsea?
sothsea lol
SOUTHSEA???what the hell is going on?
How bizarre! Is there a Southsea engine based over here at the moment and if so, why? Anyone know?
It looks like I am not the only one to comment. It looks like the Fire and Rescue Service on the Island have a serious problem on the Island. I heard that my old station that I served at Bembridge has closed, how many more have closed or nearing closure? As for bringing an appliance from Southsea on the mainland is madness. Does this happen every time that their is a fire or rescue service is needed in Bembridge? I would like to know the cost involved with this transfer of an appliance and crew. It was really lucky that day, just imagine if the ferry could not muster a full operating crew? The mind boggles. I would also like to know how many stations were operational at this time?
Real, where is SOTHSEA?
