Britain is broken.
As someone who loves their country, that is not something I say lightly. But it is undoubtedly true.
Of all the complaints I’ve heard travelling from town to town over the past 18 months, there is one phrase I hear over and over: Nothing seems to work anymore.
Nowhere is that sentiment felt more strongly than at local council level.
Just look around you: Bins are overflowing, schools are struggling and our roads are pockmarked with potholes. Meanwhile, our neighbourhoods are over-run with crime.
Yet despite all this, council tax bills continue to go up.
On the Isle of Wight, council tax has increased by over 20 per cent in the past five years. It’s not hard to see why.
Isle of Wight Council’s CEO earns nearly £148,000 a year – not much less than the Prime Minister – to oversee this mess. That’s along with another two members of staff on salaries of over £100,000.
Thanks to the Alliance Group’s maladministration, Isle of Wight has run up £165million worth of debt. That’s costing over £6million a year just in interest – the equivalent of £16,000 a day.
But then are you that surprised when the council is spending £22,000 just on translators and somehow spent over £500,000 to house a vulnerable 10-year-old boy in an illegal children’s home for four months?
If that wasn’t bad enough, it managed to waste £60,000 on unnecessary consultants to advise on the future of the floating bridge.
And just look at the state of the roads. By our calculations, there are roughly 19 potholes for every mile of road around Isle of Wight.
Violent crime is everywhere – there were over 5,000 incidents on the Isle of Wight over the past year.
It really doesn’t have to be this way.
Last year, Reform UK won hundreds of council seats and already we’re seeing the positive impact the party is having in those areas. Which is why I am embarking on a national tour to let voters know how you can fix this country.
Because we can’t do this without you. We urgently need your help.
Just remember: Labour, the Conservatives and the Lib Dems tried to stop these local elections happening. They wanted them cancelled because they know that voters are desperate to give them a kicking.
So now is your chance to do so.
Let’s send Starmer and the rest of the Westminster establishment a clear message.
The turquoise tsunami is coming.

Two things.
In addition to this, the Island didn’t have the opportunity to vote in local elections due last year, due to a government directive, relating to changes expected in the so called ‘Local Government Reorganisation’ .
A chance to vote this year, peeps, in May. You heard it here first folks, expect another shaky alliance, but with a different name.
[…] BRITAIN IS BROKEN – BUT THE TURQUOISE TSUNAMI IS COMING […]
Nige waffles on and says what people want to hear
but will deliver fcuk all!
All talk.
Reform is coming get over it. General election now Liebor out.
Reform is the old Tory party with a different
leader lol, run by the same globalist leaders.
Restore Britain is Britains only hope, keep dreaming.
What the hell is “LIEBOR”? That’s a new one to me. Who is the party leader?
Same as fucking wanker starmer then..
Language Timothy!
If you believe Reform will change anything
you must be a bigger Numpty than I thought you are!
I think that you will find that FCUK stands for, “French Connection UK”. If your going to spell a word, then do it correctly.
Farage admires Trump, convicted felon, adjudicated rapist and most prominent figure in the Epstein files.
Farage admires Putin.
Farage admires failed Tories and has stuffed his party full of them.
Reform is the old Tory Party.
Very true, but is there any white British people in this country that is capable of running this country for the good. So far we have had Liars, cheats and perverts. Whatever party, they all fit into one of these categories. Don’t forget the three handed watches that they wear, a big hand, a small hand and a backhand.
There is literally no positive impact in the areas where Reform won seats. Council tax has been raised in Reform won areas. A load of lies as usual.
Reform are like a French Letter with an hole in it, pretty much
useless.
So what positive impacts are reform having in the areas which they do have seats?
What, like Clacton? Not much, say the residents there. Those who voted him in said ‘he doesn’t seem to be doing anything for us.’ In fact they never see him. There have been NO local improvements.
Plenty of time to have done something, especially when he campaigned on ‘broken, left behind Clacton’.
Britain isn’t broken, but it soon will be if he has his way. Just like Clacton.
I don’t think he knows where Clacton is!
Do you?
I thought News outlets were meant to be impartial? Gov controls most of the budgetary support for councils. We have not been supported by Govs properly for 20+ years. Most of Reform UK Ltd are ex-Tories who put us in this mess anyway. And no, if you look the Reform Councils in Charge over the rest of the country they are failing massively. Are you paid for by Reform by any chance?
I feel the same! Funnily enough my comments about impartiality haven’t been approved…….
Firstly, let’s remind ourselves that the current ‘leadership ‘ of Reform is made up of the very people who ‘broke’ the country.
The country maybe not at its healthiest at present, but it is getting fixed.
Also let’s not forget the first thing Farage et al would do, is sell off the NHS.
Secondly, the bins aren’t overflowing, the schools aren’t struggling and certainly my neighbourhood isn’t overrun with crime.
As for ‘by our calculations ‘ there are 19 potholes for every mile, I would like to see how you calculated that figure. Plucked from thin air perhaps? Alongside most of Reform policy?
Do not be taken in by this charlatan, he is not a politician, he is a populist self promoting businessman who would sell off this country to the highest bidder. Following in the footsteps of the Tories, who now populate Reform, and have sold our assets off over the last forty five years.
Highest bidder….would that be Trump, perhaps?
How are they able to spunk it away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What’s the betting all the tradesmen will down
tools early, go home brush up, put a splash of
Brut on and then go to GGs
HAVE YOU NOT SEEN ALL THE TORIES WHO HAVE
DEFECTED TO REFORM!, it makes them the
“OLD TORY PARTY WITH A DIFFERENT LEADER”
It would be like a local football team with all
French players in the team, hardly Pompey United.
Lol
Bring on Reform.
Get this broken Britain back to Great Britain.
Deform won’t change anything, do your homework
before putting pen to paper, so important.
is there a way to report local news for biased, opinionated reports described to be breaking news… just wondering
The numpties are home, easy to know what
numpties went along
lol
By the time they arrived home!
GB (Gullible B’stards)
Did anyone ask Nige about the Brexit £350,000,000.00
that was promised!.
