An Isle of Wight man has been sentenced for a string of motoring offences committed in the West Midlands, including taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
John Ward, 43, of Lower Furlongs, Brading, appeared at Walsall Magistrates’ Court on Friday 25th July, where he was sentenced for offences committed in Walsall last summer.
The court heard that on 23rd June 2024, Ward took a Range Rover Evoque without the owner’s consent and drove it on Pleck Road without holding a valid licence or insurance. He was also found to have failed to surrender to custody at Dudley Magistrates’ Court on 23rd July 2024, having been released on bail the previous month.
Ward pleaded guilty to all charges, including taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving without insurance, and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
Magistrates imposed a 12-month community order requiring him to complete 120 hours of unpaid work. He was ordered to pay £350 in costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
His driving record was endorsed with 6 penalty points.
