64-year-old Terry Lewis has been jailed for 17 months after firing an air rifle during a row with his neighbours over loud music.
Lewis, of no fixed abode but previously of New Road in Brading, was found guilty of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence at the Isle of Wight Crown Court back in February, as previously reported by Island Echo.
Jurors heard how, on 18th August 2024, a disagreement about noise levels developed. A disgruntled Lewis subsequently pointed an air rifle over the fence and opened fire. He then proceeded to open fire on the house, smashing windows in the process.
After several attempts to detain him, Police were eventually able to arrest Lewis and take him to Newport Police Station for questioning.
Lewis only recently come to the attention of the justice system, with his life taking a drastic turn following the sudden death of his wife.
Appearing at Winchester Crown Court via video link for sentencing on 16th May, Lewis was sentenced to 17 months behind bars by Mr Recorder McElduff.
I can remember the good old days when
neighbours respected each other.
“How times have sadly changed”
I am so pleased I live in a detached property, it does
help.
I think it would be a great idea if more 1 and 2 bedroom
detached properties were built.
I wonder what the “noise” was.
17 months, with the new rules he will be out in a third of that, probably less.
Were the persons who caused the problem
in the first place
Eg the noise not prosecuted!
We live in a world where the persons who start a
problem, when retaliation takes place the person
who probably would have ot committed a crime
becomes the bait!
Sad times.
Always seems to be the case now, the lowlife get away with doing as they like, and WE get nicked for saying something. Siding with the problem makers is aiding and abetting them to continue with the problem. Like I have said on here before, You are thought more of if you are low life, than you are if you are sick or a pensioner.
So true, we are living in very strange times.
When our own Government is against us the people,
it says a lot.
