Police, HM Coastguard and Ryde Inshore Rescue have all been involved in the search for an individual on the seafront at Ryde this lunchtime (Boxing Day), amid concerns for their welfare.
It was just gone midday that the alarm was raised that an individual may pose a danger to themselves in the vicinity of Ryde Pier.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary immediately responded, with assistance from HM Coastguard requested.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to the Esplanade at Ryde, with Ryde Inshore Rescue soon requested to launch their primary lifeboat.
By 13:00 the search had moved east to the area surrounding the Canoe Lake, where the individual was located sitting in a nearby shelter.
The incident has now been brought to a safe conclusion.
