UPDATED: BOMB DISPOSAL CALLED TO SEAVIEW AMID UNEXPLODED BOMB FEARS

Royal Navy Bomb Disposal experts have been called into action amid fears a piece of unexploded ordnance has washed up in Seaview.  Police were alerted to the discovery on the beach at The Duver at around 08:00, with photographs collated and sent off to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team in Portsmouth. Travelling across the Solent on the 10:00 ferry from Pompey, the Bomb Disposal team have now arrived in Seaview and are conducting an examination of the suspected device. Waders have been donned to access the object, which has been covered by the tide. Police are keeping members of the public away from the immediate area. UPDATE @ 11:25 – It has been determined that the object is not explosive. It has been removed from the beach to be disposed of, to prevent further concerns in the future. Police and the Royal Navy have now stood down from the incident.
