Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a man’s body within woodland near Landguard Manor in Shanklin.
Emergency services arrived at the scene off Landguard Manor Road shortly before 10:25 this morning (Friday).
Multiple resources from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were mobilised but nothing could be done to save the man’s life, with Police arriving on scene soon after and erecting a cordon around an area of woodland.
A scene guard has been in place for several hours with detectives from Newport CID arriving to conduct investigations at around 11:30.
A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said that enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the death.
It’s been confirmed that Police were called at 10:19 this morning and remain on scene at this time.
