UPDATED: A yacht has run aground on Ryde Sands this lunchtime (Tuesday), prompting the assistance of Ryde Inshore Rescue.
Volunteer lifeboat crewmen have gone to the aid of the stricken sailors, who ran aground on an ebbing tide in heavy fog.
No one is believed to have been injured, however the vessel is listing badly.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team are on scene, overseeing the incident from the watch room of Ryde Insore Rescue at Appley.
UPDATE – The vessel was refloated with the tide.
