UPDATED: A boat has collided with Ryde Pier this afternoon (Thursday) resulting in the vessel becoming wedged under the historic structure.
Coastguard Rescue Teams are currently in attendance on the East side of the pier where a small Dory-type fishing boat has become stuck, resulting in the assistance of Ryde Inshore Rescue being requested to tow the boat away from the Pier.
Thankfully, no persons have been injured in the incident, which occurred shortly before 16:00.
UPDATE @ 17:05 – One person has been rescued from the stricken boat by Ryde Inshore Rescue and has been taken to safety. The boat is likely to remain in place until the tide drops late tonight.
UPDATE @ 21:00 – The boat was recovered by the owner and returned to Ryde Harbour at around 19:00 this evening.
