The very first electric car was introduced to the world back in 1890. In those days, these newly-developed vehicles were quite primitive and very different from what we have today. An excellent example of innovative scientific progress can be considered the BMW EVs, created and presented in 2013.
Today the most popular BMW I3 has been successfully produced and sold for 10 years. During its production period, more than 220 thousand BMW i3 models were sold. The BMW I3 model hasn’t been so popular for anything. First of all, the attractive design of this car and its excellent technical characteristics allowed it to meet the expectations of many people around the world. But the BMW I3 is only one of the few EV models made by BMW. So, how about its predecessors?
Technologically advanced and made for convenient daily travels
The economy and compactness of the car are one of the main features that allow it to become an extremely comfortable and suitable car for daily trips in the urban environment. It seems that this is exactly what the manufacturer was aiming for when introducing the BMW i3.
At first glance, this car may appear like a toy, but in its production, high-quality bmw parts are used, which are characterized by excellent features and durability. The car’s perfectly optimized energy consumption enables it to drive a distance of up to 310 kilometers. In fact, the distance can also depend on the air temperature or the speed. For example, in the cold season, the distance can be reduced to only 200 km.
The battery of the current BMW i3 has a capacity of 42.2 kWh. Combined with the new generation charging system, it can be fully charged in about 4 hours if a fast charging station is used. Meanwhile, using a normal slow charging station, the battery is charged in about twelve hours.
Better. Newer. More exclusive.
The increasing demand for electric vehicles has prompted the manufacturer to release more EV models. For this reason, the new BMW I4 Gran Coupe rolled out on the streets in 2021. This time, these electric cars reminded more of classic sedans than small and compact city cars. Along with large technological progress, the new I4s had more technological solutions, and the ability to travel much greater distances. This EV can travel a distance of up to 590 km, and for a distance of 100 km, it takes just over an hour to charge if it is charged with fast charging.
It is also worth noting that when designing the BMW i4, the manufacturer decided to give consumers the opportunity to choose from two different models, such as the BMW I4 eDrive 40 and the BMW I4 M50. The main difference between these models is that the BMW I4 M50 is considered a sports car with more power and a four-wheel drive system. Meanwhile, the I4 eDrive 40 is simpler and more suitable for everyday travel.
