Paramedics are checking over the driver of a silver hatchback after the vehicle rolled onto its side in a crash near Rookley.
Emergency services were called out at around 16:30 this afternoon (Saturday) to reports of a single vehicle collision outside the Chequers Inn pub, at the junction of Niton Road and Chequers Inn Road.
It’s here that a VW Polo has crashed off the road at the start of Bagwich Lane and has come to rest on its side.
The driver has been able to exit the vehicle and is currently being checked over by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, which has a rapid response paramedic, an operational commander and an ambulance on scene.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has also responded to the incident, with 2 appliances from Newport mobilised. However, little to no action has been required with all resources now standing down.
Police have closed the junction whilst recovery of the vehicle is arranged.
The Polo has already been righted onto all 4 wheels by a member of the public utilising their vehicle to pull the small hatchback over.
More twat driving ..but at least off the road with higher costs now.

Personally I blame the authorities, they need to make
the roads safe, they are more concerned about chicken shop
signs than road safety.
In less than a week 2 lives have sadly been lost on our roads
this leaves a devastating impact on the families who have
lost their loved ones unnesseccarily.
It is 2026 where are the safe cycle lanes for cyclists to use!!
The Government keep bumbling on about using public
transport and bicycles etc.
I sold my bicycle a few years ago, it was unsafe to cycle on
the island.
If there were cycle lanes islandwide I would be happy to
purchase another bike, until then no way.
There are even Roads I won’t drive along any more due to
them being UNSAFE
You are correct when saying a persons life,
what about law abiding motorists like myself who
stick to the speed rules etc and other motorists who
have a death wish by overtaking at speed in dangerous
positions!
I saw an Honda yesterday afternoon drive wrecklessly at
speed going past Compton Bay overtaking many vehicles
not only putting his or her life at risk but also myself and
other motorists.
We need strict rules and safety measures put in place to make
“our” roads safe for EVERYONE.
Roads are much safer on the mainland due to having
safety measures put in place, there are no safety measures
on hardly any roads on the island.
People like yourself don’t like to hear the truth, so sad.
We cannot allow other motorists putting other motorists
livss at risk, what’s the rush.
I pray this motorist is ok, but the authorities need to act.
Cameras are the only deterrent it works on the mainland.
