blockbusterThe future of two Blockbuster stores on the Isle of Wight have been secured after the national-chain was bought out yesterday.

Following the purchase of 264 stores, it has been confirmed that Ryde and Shanklin will remain open under the new ownership securing a number of jobs for Island residents.

Investment company Gordon Brothers Europe purchased 264 stores in the deal, despite 528 stores originally going into administration. Morrisons have purchased 49 stores, which are set to be transformed into convenience stores.

UPDATED: Unfortunately, the Cowes and Newport stores will not reopen under the new ownership deal.
