Clients supported by The Hub, Island Healthcare’s home care service, have enjoyed a special outing to the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary to see newly arrived bears Benji and Balu.
Clients joined staff from The Hub for a relaxed visit to the Sandown attraction as part of the service’s ongoing programme of social calls and community activities. The team said it was a lovely chance for people to share a laugh, enjoy time together and experience something different.
During the trip, clients were able to watch the bears settling into their new home while taking in the sights and sounds across the sanctuary. Staff said the outing was an important reminder that home care is not only about support within the house, but also about helping people stay socially connected and engaged with the world beyond it.
Ian Bennett, Managing Director of Island Healthcare, said:
“There is something so grounding and fun about days like this. A bit of fresh air, a change of scene and the chance to see something a bit special.”
The visit highlights Island Healthcare’s commitment to creating meaningful experiences for the people it supports — placing companionship, confidence and social connection at the heart of its care alongside practical daily assistance.
