Over 70 toys and gifts have been donated to those spending Christmas in hospital this year, thanks to the fundraising efforts of a local boy.
Ben set out to raise enough money to purchase an array of gifts with the aim of making Christmas Day that little bit more special for those unfortunate enough to be in hospital over the festive period.
To achieve this, the youngster created his own COVID-inspired board game ‘COVID Rush’, which he then replicated and sold for a suggested donation of £5. The aim of the game is to get all your tokens around the board and into the safe bubble, avoiding squares such as ‘you have a high temperature, go back home’.
Amazingly, enough money was raised to purchase a staggering 70 gifts, from chocolate to socks, games to arts and crafts.
The piles of presents were handed over to the Children’s Ward staff at St Mary’s Hospital on Saturday.
