Bembridge RNLI launched to assist a 30ft sailing yacht with 3 crew and a dog onboard this afternoon (Tuesday).
Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the All Weather Lifeboat at just before 16:50 following reports that ‘Anigh Falls’ engine had failed and was possibly taking in some water 6 nautical miles East of Bembridge.
The Alfred Albert Williams was on scene by 17:10. After transferring the lifeboat mechanic and another crew member to the Anigh Falls it was quickly ascertained that although there was no significant ingress of water to worry about, the engine could not be repaired so a tow to Chichester Harbour was established.
Having handed Anigh Falls over to Hayling Island RNLI’s Atlantic 85 at the entrance to Chichester Harbour at just after 18:00, the Alfred Albert Williams returned Bembridge and was recovered by 18:40.
