Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) was launched at the request of Solent Coastguard last night (Saturday) to assist a 39ft sailing yacht with engine failure.
The Tamar-class lifeboat ‘Alfred Albert Williams’ hit the water at around 21:40 and was on scene with ‘Rosalyn’ less than 20 minutes later.
The casualty yacht’s engine had failed 5nm North East of Bembridge whilst on passage from Lowestoft to South, prompting a Pan Pan message to be issued. 3 crew were onboard the yacht, 1 of whom was feeling unwell.
The crew of Bembridge Lifeboat quickly established a tow to Portsmouth.
Having successfully berthed Rosalyn at Gosport Marina at just after midnight, the Alfred Albert Williams returned to Bembridge and was recovered by 01:00.
