APOLLO THEATRE IN NEWPORT TO STAGE ‘AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS’

Apollo Theatre in Newport is to stage ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ from Tuesday 16th to Saturday 20th July. Stuck for somewhere exotic to go this summer? Or perhaps you can’t get away this year?  The Apollo Players can help.  Their production of Jules Verne’s classic tale, adapted by Laura Eason, will transport you from London to New York via Paris, Bombay, Calcutta, Singapore, Hong Kong – all in the course of an evening. The show is full of light and music, with fabulous costumes and a fast-moving story to keep everyone gripped.  A cast of only 11 play a total of 51 characters, changing costume, set, accent and even gender in the blink of an eye to tell the story of Victorian gentleman Phileas Fogg’s wager that he can circumnavigate the world in only eighty days. This story of eccentricity, romance and derring-do is brought to the stage in a production that’s entertaining and theatrical, full of action and colour in an imaginative, high-spirited escapade for all the family.
