There will be another day of disruption for Red Funnel customers tomorrow (Wednesday) as a further 6 vehicle ferry crossings have been cancelled. An issue with the Voith propulsion unit on Red Eagle saw a total of 7 sailings pulled today. Now, the cross-Solent operator has confirmed that the 04:30, 07:30 and 10:30 sailings from Southampton have all been cancelled for Wednesday, alongside the 06:00, 09:00 and 12:00 sailings from East Cowes. The news comes in the same week that the hi-speed Red Jet service has been hit by breakdowns, as previously reported by Island Echo. Red Falcon appears to be the only vehicle ferry currently in operation, keeping the service running. Red Osprey returned from annual refit in Falmouth earlier this week, but has not re-entered service. Out of a total of 6 vessels – 3 Red Jets and 3 Raptor-class ferries – just 2 are currently operational. Red Funnel apologises for any inconvenience to your journey. UPDATE WEDNESDAY @ 12:12 – Red Funnel has now cancelled the 13:30, 16:30 and 19:30 sailings from Southampton and the 15:00, 18:00 and 21:00 from East Cowes. UPDATE WEDNESDAY @ 17:10 – It has been confirmed that a normal timetable will resume at 19:30 from Southampton and 21:00 from East Cowes.
