Another person has died in a care home on the Isle of Wight due to the coronavirus.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths on the Island to 87 — 44 in care homes, 39 in hospital, 3 at home and 1 in Mountbatten Hospice.
The latest death has been listed in data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) as to have happened up to 7th August.
Worringly, this is the fourth consecutive week that figures from the ONS have shown a care home death to have happened. The last COVID-19 related death to have occurred in St Mary’s Hospital in Newport was on 6th June.
Positive cases on the Isle of Wight have also been increasing recently, with figures from Public Health England confirming 5 more cases since the start of August compared to the 3 positive tests in the entire month of July.
However, in an effort to stop the spread and a potential second wave of the virus nationally, the Isle of Wight has been asked once again to be the testers of a new track-and-trace app for the government.
Letters have been sent to all Island households in the last few days with a unique code to download the app and also explaining how the app works.
But can we be sure that this was entitrely due to Covid 19? If death occured within 28 days of testing positive then it could have been due to something else, but would have been counted as due to the virus.
You won’t get the truth. A friend of mine on the mainland had a history of heart trouble. Recently he had a bad heart attack . His wife called emergency and an ambulance was sent and arrived very quickly. He had NO other symptoms prior to and during this dreadful event . Sadly on arrival to his local hospital he was pronounced clinically dead by the ambulance crew. Guess what appeared on his death certificate- Covid19 . Lies,lies lies.
This is happening more than people know or believe !

I’m sorry to hear about your friend. A possible explanation to him being tested as Covid positive but having experienced no symptoms is that he was asymptomatic.
Thank you for your kind words. What his wife and myself don’t understand is if he was tested as covid19 and diagnosed as asymtomatic why wasn’t she advised to self isolate. Also the ambulance crew.
Yes I agree, his wife should at least have been tested if she also had not been showing any symptoms. The inconsistencies are more my beef with how the virus has been managed. The ambulance crew as frontline key workers should have been wearing PPE as a matter of protection.
I agree Mike. The Government went Covid-mad, particularly during the early stages of the outbreak, assigning resulting deaths to it even though patients had a variety of underlying conditions. They have been consistently back-tracking and re-adjusting these numbers since as they realise they have been incorrectly applying it as the cause. You cannot therefore take the numbers as read.

I really hope you do not get this virus. Both me and my partner had it and we were wiped out and still have loss of our sense of smell.
Our 8 year old daughter had it and was having trouble to breath through all the coughing. Our GP advised us to take her to hospital if she declines and also told us not to hug or be near her which was rediculous.
It doesn’t affect everyone badly but I have never felt so poorly and I think this virus is serious and people need to take it seriously.
I understand you have your views and think it’s not that bad but as a father of two children, this virus really made our family very poorly.

The flu also does this.. and affects everyone differently. Sorry to hear you and your family were poorly. I also have children and I’m a key worker.. so why has flu completely disappeared and we now have this deadly virus? It’s a load of rubbish in my opinion anyway… too many lies, fabricated numbers, doctors have come clean about this (real doctors anyway). Control and fear of a population!

Heard earlier today that the Australian pm has said that they are close to securing enough vaccine to fight against the covid19. They will buy enough for the 25 million population. He has also stated that the vaccine will be free of cost. But the pm has also said that he is confident that this will be mandatory. Yes mandatory. Hmmm what other countries will follow? Let me peruse on that.
Sorry to hear you and your family had flu which kills thousands every year but in 2019 though seems to have disapeared
I equally do not believe the numbers/statistics, however you have to remember that as a new strain of the flu virus that does not have a vaccine, the primary Government objective was to protect the NHS from being over-whelmed with cases. As a key worker you will fully understand the impact a full outbreak would have created for our single Island NHS Trust. My view is lets see what occurs in the Autumn/Winter when ‘normal’ flu will return and everyone rushes to get their jabs and a potential wave of the new Covid-19, before making judgements. I can also concur with John G’s comments. Having contracted Covid myself the variety of symptoms i experienced were nothing like a common flu and took 6-weeks for these to start to dissipate. I was not in danger of being hospitalised but never knew if things would take a turn for the worst.
The opposite happened to my Mum, she had 3 positive tests for Covid, the last one being in the week she died but no mention of Covid on her death certificate. You can’t trust any of the figures either way.

CV1984 is no more dangerous than flu & there is currently no specific CV19 test available.
The PCR test used is finding viral particles which most people who have previously had the common cold ( a coronavirus ) will have.
These particles are harmless and are presented as an infection.

How will the new track-and-trace system work effectively on the island if Half A Sausage Seely’s Down from London ‘constituents’, and other visitors, have not received the letter sent to local households with a unique code needed to register when you download the app? Another well thought out Tory debacle in the making I suspect. Roll on winter…
It will help tidy up the mess left behind, from the coronavirus they bring here, when it is transmitted on the Island. It will be very useful in the winter.
I have news for the ‘test and trace app people, not every body has had a letter, I know of some flats that have not had a letter. If they can,t get that simple thing correct,what chance have we got.
Letter are still being delivered. My parents had theirs on Friday, mine today. But a complete waste of money sending to us. None of us have the sort of phone required to operate said App
I am not downloading a government spying app onto my phone – my right to anonymity and my right to privacy are far too important to me. There are more people dying of flu and pneumonia at the moment than this virus.
But how will I know if I’ve been infected by someone and I then infect someone who dies????
Three of us in my household and not one of us is able to get the app on our phones.
Neither can my nextdoor neighbour.
Bet there are loads of people in the same situation.
Instead of wasting money on pointless apps, would be better if they spent the money on tests.
The ‘tests’ are fake, the tests cannot test for Covid19, they only test for generic corona virus and given the high false positives are virtually worthless, the inventor and recipient of the Nobel Prize Kary Mullis said it should not be used to diagnose disease . The new desktop system is made by a company called DNA Nudge, now considering that the virus has not been isolated satisfying the Kosch Postulates (the standard for the identification of a new diesease), the ‘test’ is worthless could it be they (and this is conjecture) collecting everyones DNA.
On that basis then, every time a sample is taken by the NHS, be it blood sample, semen sample, smear test, cancer biopsy or any other sample, they are illegally collecting DNA !!!
Firstly my sincere sympathy to John Gullible and his family. Hope they all recover fully soon. Secondly had news from Australia that the government is not far away from securing a vaccine against this covid19 and will have enough for the whole population of approx. 25 million. This will be given free of charge. But wait for it – the prime minister is confident that this vaccine will be mandatory. Yes mandatory. Hmmm! What country next I wonder.

Load of bs any 1 heard of the flu that’s kills 100,000s every year
On all posts I can’t see anywhere where anybody posted flu that kills 100,000’s every year. Bob mentioned thousands which in dec 19 it was recorded that approx. 10,000 in England and Wales died from flu alone that year. . Northern Ireland and Scotland figures were not included .
