Lake Parish Council launched its annual budget consultation at a recent meeting at Lake’s Gathering Place.
At the meeting, Councillors Mike Hailston and Paul Brading spoke to residents about proposed projects in Lake, and elsewhere in the Bay, was well as the challenges facing the local area.
The Parish Council already funds public realm maintenance in Lake, as well as supports a range of youth initiatives, civic events such as Remembrance Day and VE/VJ Day 80 initiatives, work with local schools and youth groups, and specific projects such as buoys in the Bay and emptying dog bins.
Parish Chair Paul Brading said:
“The Parish Council has listened to residents to prioritise keeping the Slipway Toilets open, investing in New Road and Lake Cliff Gardens facilities, as well as youth projects such as the playpark in Manor Road, and this consultation will help shape the budget for 2026 and beyond.”
Cllr Brading concluded:
“The Parish recognises, and has responded to, recent anti-social behaviour issues in the Parish, with this impacting on resources; and strives to agree a balanced budget to deliver the best value for money for the residents.”
