WightFibre is due to close Alverstone Road near Newchurch this evening (Wednesday) to facilitate the installation of their growing Gigabit Island network.
Alverstone Road will be closed from its junction with Newport Road to its junction with entrance to Bigbury Farm.
The temporary traffic regulations order (TTRO) comes into force from 18:00 and will be closed for a maximum period of 5 days – or until works are completed and the site is made safe, whichever is sooner.
The closure is necessary to enable Wight Fibre to install ducting.
The diversion will affect these streets: Alverstone Road, Forest Road, Winford Road, Newport Road.
UPDATE @ 13:45 – Island Roads has issued an update regarding the closure of Alverstone Road.
“This is to clarify that works will only take place one night out of five and its start is dependent on weather conditions.
“The closure is necessary to enable Wight Fibre to install ducting during one evening between 18th and 22nd December”
UPDATE THURSDAY – Works have now been cancelled until the New Year. A date is yet to be confirmed.
Alverstone Road will remain open as normal.
