Football has always been a big part of people’s lives. The combined strength and intelligence between the club owners, directors, managers, and players are vital to its success. Throughout the years there have been many managers that pushed the limits of how intelligent and strategic a football team can be, and in doing so, they managed to win numerous titles.
Those managers were able to exploit the player’s biggest strengths and work to improve their weak sides as well. Sponsors invest a lot of money in football (read more on that topic here: https://www.islandecho.co.uk/youth-football-club-thank-sponsor-for-continued-support/), but ultimately, it is up to the manager to spend the money smartly and make the best out of any given situation.
These days, the manager position is probably the most stressful and high-demanding position in any club, especially the big tier clubs. There are literally managers that were fired just because their team finished in fourth, but the club was expecting a top 3 finish.
Next Manager To Leave Odds
Since the manager job is high-demanding, especially in the Premier League, where some of the best clubs play in the most competitive league in the world, a lot of managers have a short time to deliver results or get fired. Manchester United, for example, has been struggling with managers in the past 6 years. They managed to employ 5 managers after spending 27 years with Fergie.
With that being said, Roy Hodgson has the biggest chance of leaving the post, his odds are 6/1. Right behind him is United’s current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with 7/1. Graham Potter is in the third spot with odds coming at 8/1. Dean Smith and Chris Wilder complete the top 5 list, with Dean’s odds sitting at 14/1, and Wilder’s odds sitting at 16/1. Since we’ve taken a look at which managers are most likely to leave their post, let’s switch over to some of the most legendary managers that graced the Premier League.
Pep Guardiola
Praised as one of the greatest strategists off all time, Guardiola has been one of the best managers from the newer era. Having won countless trophies with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, he went to the island to manage Manchester City in 2016. Since then, he won 127 out of the 175 games he managed, winning 2 Premier League titles, 1 FA Cup, 2 EFL Cups, and 2 FA Community Shield Cups in the process. His win ratio in the Premier League is 72%.
Arsène Wenger
Arsène Wenger is the only manager to win a Golden Premier League trophy. He is the first and only manager to finish a season with 0 defeats. He completed that milestone in Arsenal’s legendary 2003/2004 season. He also played a vital part in Arsenal financial strategies and managed to restore the financial strength of the club after they build the Emirates Stadium. He left Arsenal after the end of the 2017/18 season.
José Mourinho
Probably the biggest rival that Pep Guardiola and Wenger had, José Mourinho managed Chelsea and Manchester United during his time in the Premier League. While he was manager at these two clubs, he won the Premier League 3 times, lifted 1 FA Cup trophy, 4 EFL Cups, 1 Europa League, and 2 FA Community Shield Cups. He is surely among the best managers the Premier League has ever seen.
Sir Alex Ferguson
The greatest manager in the Premier Leagues history, and one of the greatest in the world of all time, Sir Alex Ferguson is destined for these kinds of lists. When he came to Manchester United in 1986 he said that he was going to make the club the most decorated club in England, and everybody laughed, because Liverpool were dominating at that time. When he retired in 2013, Manchester United was the most decorated club on the island. He managed 1,500 games for Manchester United and won countless trophies. He had some advice for future managers and shared some tips for success recently.
