Alexandra Lane in Newport has been closed from its junction with Drill Hall Road to its junction with Cavendish Place for a distance of 149 metres.
The closure is to enable Southern Water to carry out repairs to a leak.
The diversion will be via Drill Hall Road, Clifford Street and Cavendish Place.
The diversion route will be signed at the time of closure. Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed.
The closure was put in place from 08:30 hours on 23rd April 2020, for a maximum period of five days or until the works are completed, whichever is sooner.
