The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was deployed to the village of Bembridge overnight in response to a serious medical emergency. Flying doctors were alerted to what is understood to have been a cardiac arrest at Bembridge Coast Hotel at around 23:40. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service deployed multiple resources to the scene, but the specialist skills of the air ambulance medics were required. After touching down on the lawn of the Warner Leisure Hotel at around 00:08, the Andover-based air ambulance spent an hour on the ground before airlifting the patient to the mainland. The poorly patient was flown straight to the helipad at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth for further treatment. UPDATE – It has been confirmed that a male suffered a cardiac arrest, but was assisted by a quick-thinking local who performed CPR and utilised a defibrillator to give the patient a fighting chance.
