24-year-old Megan Durham has escaped a prison sentence despite stabbing a woman in the head with a chisel 4 times during an attack in Shanklin.
Durham, of Waterhouse Lane in Southampton but formerly of Osborne Road, Shanklin, left her 41-year-old victim with serious injuries to her head and leg during the assault at an address on Atherley Road on 22nd November 2021. The woman sustained 3 stab injuries to her scalp and 1 to her forehead, as well as a bite on the thigh.
The self-confessed AdmireMe model – who charges £12.99 a month to subscribers seeking her explicit content – admitted a charge of grievous bodily harm without intent during a hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court in April 2022.
The case was adjourned for sentencing until May, then July, but it wasn’t until September last year that a Judge finally made a decision. However, instead of being sent to jail, Durham had her sentence deferred for 3 months to improve her behaviour. She was released from custody after spending 9 months behind bars.
Then, in December, the case was pushed back a further 2 months to Friday (24th February).
Now, His Honour Judge Stephen Climie has handed the defendant a 2-year community order and made her subject to a 5-year restraining order.
As a result of Durham staying out of trouble during the period of the deferred sentence, the Judge handed her a less severe sentence than if she was to have got into trouble during that period. The time she spent in custody was also taken into account.
It was recognised that the attack should have resulted in an immediate custodial sentence, but the decision was taken that support for Durham’s mental health issues, and the progress she is making, took priority.
Last week Island Echo reported on the case of Dean Dalley from Bembridge who escaped time behind bars after stabbing his girlfriend multiple times.
Pleased guilty to GBH without intent, her victim received 3 stab wounds to head and 1 to neck. Without intent??? Hope nothing happens to her looks to affect what she believes is a career.

Not getting why courts are so lenient now days , no longer a deterrent to others. ‘admitted a charge of grievous bodily harm without intent’ how can you not intend to harm when you stab someone 4times ?.
Our prisons are full to bursting point which is why more and more crimes like this are not seeing custodial sentences handed down.

UNDERSTAND, that our prisons are filled with the world’s criminals now, and so UNLESS a crime is ‘worse’ than those awful, barbaric crimes such commit, then there is little chance of being sent down.
The criminals know this, common knowledge, and so crime gets worse, making the ‘level’ of crime to be sent down much higher.
End unchecked immigration, return illegals, and vet those arriving and get them to sign a disclaimer that any crime both they, and anything they have ‘produced’ is returned to their home-lands.
Otherwise your children’s lives as they become parent will be so awful.
