The spirit of the 1960s and 70s will return to the Isle of Wight for one night only as Dimbola Museum and Galleries in Freshwater hosts a special live event celebrating the golden age of the iconic Isle of Wight Festivals.
Taking place on Saturday 29th November, Jimi and Friends promises an evening of energy, nostalgia and live music, headlined by Big Red & The Cava Boys.
The band will be joined by special guest Dick Taylor, founding member of The Pretty Things and former bassist of The Rolling Stones.
The event will pay tribute to legendary artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez, recreating the sounds that defined a generation and lit up the 1969 and 1970 Isle of Wight Festivals.
Audiences can expect a two-part show, beginning with a vibrant mix of 60s and 70s classics, followed by a set inspired by the original festival line-ups. Organisers say it will be a rare opportunity to relive the music and magic of a defining cultural era – all in the very place where it originally happened.
Dr Brian Hinton, Executive Chairman, has said:
“This is going to be a groovy evening full of energy, nostalgia and incredible musicianship.
“We can’t think of a better way to celebrate Jimi Hendrix’s legacy and the Isle of Wight’s musical heritage.”

Tickets are priced at £10 and are available directly from Dimbola Museum and Galleries by calling 01983 756814. Guests are encouraged to embrace the spirit of the 60s by dressing in loons, bell bottoms, cheesecloth shirts and love beads.
All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the Jimi Hendrix Exhibition set to open at Dimbola in June 2026, in aid of the Julia Margaret Cameron Trust.
Doors open at 18:00, with guests asked to be seated by 18:30.
