5 people have died with COVID-19 at St Mary’s Hospital this week alone, according to the latest figures from Government.
2 people sadly died on Monday, alongside deaths on 1st, 2nd and 3rd January too. It is currently unclear if any further deaths have occurred this week, with data lagging behind by a few days.
It takes the total number of COVID-19 deaths on the Isle of Wight since the start of the pandemic to 112. Of this number, 61 have died in hospital and 51 have died within the community, either at home, in a care home or at the hospice.
The total number of positive cases on the Isle of Wight has shot up to 3,037, meaning around 2.16% of Islanders have knowingly contracted the virus and of that number, 3.6% have died – 0.08% of the Island’s population.
Around 60 patients are currently being treated in hospital for coronavirus.
Is the chance of ever leaving hospital still 50/50? Or has our chance if going there with CV improved now?

if the cause of death was covid, it would have been reported as “died of covid, or died due to covid” – more dubious claims by the NHS

The ferries did not spread the virus.
We were tier one, now we are tier four because the ferry’s were packed with people from tier four, the ferry’s contributed to the rise of Covid.
It was illegal for anyone to travel from tier four into teir one, I hope you understand that…
Then it was the people breaking the law, the ferry companies can not legally stop people travelling, the same as airlines couldn’t.
Thay aided and abetted people to break the law, for example, if I knowingly picked up a bank rober in my car but wasn’t part of the robbery I would still be arrested.
The ferry’s know where their passengers come from because they collect a lot of information when a booking is made.

The ferries allowed people to spread the virus.
They are responsible by allowing people to travel here whilst offering discounts and encouraging the travel.

My wife was very poorly over the festive period, let me tell you,she didn’t get it from a mainlander.
She got it from an islander that went to the mainland AFTER she had showed symptoms, when she should’ve been isolating…

Note the wording in the report. Died WITH COVID not OF COVID. When are they going to give us the true figures? I do get that the figures are higher but to include anyone who has died of something else but happens to have tested positive in the last 28days is misleading and scaremongering.

Nitpicking. It’s the damage covid causes to your lungs and other organs leading to multiple organ failure. Read the MCCD rules…
Quite right Martin, you can argue that nobody ever dies of Covid, its as a result of Covid. Respiratory failure and organ failure or people living with underlying heath conditions that die of those conditions as a result of Covid causing stress within the body.
Is a bit like saying that you don’t die from jumping off a cliff because its the trauma caused by the impact. People manipulate the information to suit themselves.

My Husband died in hospital last November . He had COPD , had 2 tests and both were negative . He had double pneumonia then sepsis . Almost identical to what COVID does to your lungs but the death certificate stated double pneumonia . No mention of COVID. Please just all do what we are supposed to do and we hopefully will get back to what we were before Christmas .
