A 42-year-old man has been jailed for 5 days after failing to comply with post-sentence supervision conditions following his release from prison.
Luke Mulkern, 42, of no fixed abode, admitted breach of post sentence supervision when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (Friday).
The court heard how Mulkern was handed a custodial sentence by Salisbury Crown Court for offences of theft from a shop and criminal damage. Having served a brief custodial sentence, Mulkern was released under the watchful eye of the probation service, however he failed to turn up to his induction appointment on the 31st March.
Mulkern was described in court as someone with a ‘chaotic lifestyle’ and someone who has shown ‘no compliance whatsoever’ since he had been released from custody.
Defending, Oscar Vincent, told the court that upon his release Mulkern had no money, no address and no phone. Vincent categorised Mulkern as having a ‘transient lifestyle’, with the 42-year-old currently sofa surfing.
Magistrates handed Mulkern an immediate 5-day custodial sentence.
