Island Roads is to close the main road into Chale for a period of 4 weeks from the start of September to enable repair works to a culvert that runs underneath the carriageway. Appleford Road will close on Monday 2nd September as engineers reconstruct the central arch of ‘Appleford Hut’. It is planned for the road – which runs from Leechmore Cross to Chale Green – to re-open on 27th September. A spokesperson for Island Roads has said:
“Work like this is essential to ensure the structures that run beneath (and support) our roads stay in good condition”.

Roads shut for weeks/months on end and no one says anything, the railway closes for a month and people have a meltdown! Amazing how news media outlets allow comments that are clearly bias
Just saying it was probably a woman before misogyny becomes illegal.
Standby for the keyboard warriors who know everything as their mate told them….. these are the same numptys that probably chipped in when there was flooding and only moan because they think they know everything yet actually can’t fact check as they know it all. As a business that delivers year round to many locations including this around area thanks for making improvements.
Being a selfish old bugger I am rather looking forward to the closure, it might take some of the idiots away from the Military Road.
