2 teenagers were arrested when Police stopped a vehicle of interest in Newport on Monday night in response to a disturbance at an address in East Cowes, with 2 other people also put in cuffs.
Officers responded to Acorn Gardens at just gone 22:05 following reports of a disturbance, during which a window was smashed.
By the time Police arrived at the scene, a silver VW Golf had been driven away, leading to a search for the suspect vehicle.
It didn’t take long for officers to spot the VW on Coppins Bridge in Newport, with the car stopped outside County Hall.
A 16-year-old boy found inside the car was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and has since been released under investigation.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the driver of the Golf – a 17-year-old boy – was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. He has also been released under investigation, pending the results of blood analysis.
In East Cowes, officers arrested a 39-year-old woman on suspicion of racially aggravated common assault. She has been bailed until 25th November.
A 17-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage but he has been released with no further action.
