A suspected drug driver was pulled over by Police in Newport late last night (Monday), with multiple units descending on the scene.
At just gone 22:10, officers stopped a silver Volkswagen Golf on Coppins Bridge at the bottom of the dual carriageway.
They found the driver, a 17-year-old male from Newport, to potentially be impaired behind the wheel. As a result, he was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
For reasons unknown, a larger-than-normal number of Police units were involved in the incident.
Due to its position on the Island’s busiest junction, the VW was driven to Pyle Street at the rear of Newport Police Station to be collected by the driver at a later time.
It has been confirmed that the 17-year-old driver has been released from custody under investigation, pending the results of blood samples.

Another potential accident let loose and waiting to happen, fatal or otherwise.
Another stupid, druggy loser. One of many who should be locked away and forgotten about.
Did they put a parking ticket on the car for him, and hand his keys back to him when they discharged him.. Top his tank up with petrol and give him some lunch money? Its just outrageous! He’s a kid!
