A prolonged spell of hot and sunny weather is on the way for the Isle of Wight, with temperatures expected to rise steadily throughout the week, with the mercury hitting 32c by the weekend.
Forecasters at IW Met Service say the new heatwave is likely to be more widespread and sustained than earlier warm spells experienced so far this Summer.
Today’s rain will clear and the clouds will break to reveal warm sunny spells during this afternoon, kickstarting around 10 days of sunshine.
Tuesday will bring almost unbroken sunshine and temperatures of around 20-22c, while a shift in wind direction to a west-southwesterly breeze will help maintain the pleasant feel.
By Wednesday, the Isle of Wight can expect another fine and sunny day, but temperatures will climb significantly higher, reaching 24-26c with light winds adding to the warmth.
Thursday is set to be hotter still, with maximum temperatures between 27-29c and unbroken sunshine. Light and variable breezes will develop, with onshore winds likely to provide slight relief along the coast.
The heat will intensify on Friday, with inland areas potentially seeing highs of 28-30c. Coastal spots will feel a little cooler thanks to onshore sea breezes during the afternoon.
Looking ahead to next weekend, forecasters say the hot weather is expected to continue and could become even hotter, with maximum temperatures possibly rising to 32c. However, the IW Met Service says the details remain subject to change.
